Was God a volcano?

Jesse told me about this video on YouTube. We always share good stuff we found. But he hasn’t checked out the Accounting 101 I told him in YouTube EDU. FYI, his Accounting Principles class in school clashes with his Biology class. He has to study Accounting on his own. I am trying to help him.

If you are wondering what YouTube EDU is, it’s a project to put up lessons for learning. In 1 year, there are already 300 universities involved. Kudos to YouTube and of course Google.

Back to the video in question, a person by the name of Thunderf00t quoted some texts from the Bible which he took as evidences that the god that Moses encountered was really a volcano.

However, this is not a new idea. Sigmund Freud put up this idea in his book earlier.

Take it for what’s it worth but we as Christians are bound to meet people showing us ‘proofs’ that our belief is wrong. We really need to have a strong foundation in the Word.

The Disciples and the Storm

Transforming Encounters with Jesus in Mark’s Gospel
Pastor Chris Kam, 28/03/2010
Pastor Chris shared a hymn which he thought encompasses the Gospel very well.
Living he loved me, dying He saved me
Buried he carried my sins faraway
Rising he justified freely forever
One day he’s coming O glorious day

Exo 20:7  "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
Ecc 12:13-14  The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  (14)  For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Transforming Encounters with Jesus in Mark 2 – the Paralytic

Pastor Datuk Kee Sue Sing
Mar 2:2-12 A crowd gathered, jamming the entrance so no one could get in or out. He was teaching the Word. (3) They brought a paraplegic to him, carried by four men. (4) When they weren't able to get in because of the crowd, they removed part of the roof and lowered the paraplegic on his stretcher. (5) Impressed by their bold belief, Jesus said to the paraplegic, "Son, I forgive your sins." (6) Some religion scholars sitting there started whispering among themselves, (7) "He can't talk that way! That's blasphemy! God and only God can forgive sins." (8) Jesus knew right away what they were thinking, and said, "Why are you so skeptical? (9) Which is simpler: to say to the paraplegic, 'I forgive your sins,' or say, 'Get up, take your stretcher, and start walking'? (10) Well, just so it's clear that I'm the Son of Man and authorized to do either, or both . . ." (he looked now at the paraplegic), (11) "Get up. Pick up your stretcher and go home." (12) And the man did it--got up, grabbed his stretcher, and walked out, with everyone there watching him. They rubbed their eyes, incredulous--and then praised God, saying, "We've never seen anything like this!"
