Pastor Richard shared about the following 4 points:
1. Stand firm in our belief
2. Stay focus as a Christian
3. Start fulfilling God's purposes in us
4. Spawn fruits to confound enemies
I found a series of 6 sermons (MP3s available) on being 21st Century Christians in the Flatland Learning Center (from the Flatland Church.)
1. Being a Christian in This Age of Information
2. Being a Christian in This Age of Plurality
3. Being a Christian in This Age of Tolerance
4. Being a Christian in This Age of Reality
5. Being a Christian in This Age of Bling
6. Being a Christian in This Age of Isolation
They should make for good read (listening.)
I have been Loong the Learner since the early 90s when I first get into BBSing. I keep the moniker to remind myself that I am learning everyday.

For the first time ...
... we have four children staying over. Pastor Paul and Cindy are overseas for missions. Kelly and Caleb had stayed with us before in our old house. Chia Mei and Chia Ying with us for the first time.
... the Saturday evening group met in the Chinese church where we had all the facilities we wanted. The worship was not bad according to participants.
... the Saturday evening group had a Bible study focused on the book of Mark. One lesson down, 11 to go (for Part 1, another 12 in Part 2).
... we had a visitor, Jaime (sp?) who will play keyboard for us in the future. (Cool!) We are growing already. We are now one step closer to our goal of 20.
... I preached in Kota Damansara. I was asked to help when many leaders were away.
... Puchong, SEA Park joined Kota Damansara in a Sunday service. Desperate to get a worship leader and a musician (pianist or guitarist), I contacted sister Eva, who arranged for the whole team to come over. When I got the mic I said we had 3 congregations united in worship. We wanted to see multiple races doing the same thing. (Insert maniacal laughters by Mel C and Collin C here. I am not given that gift.)
... I was away from SEA Park CBC 2 weeks in a row
... I joined a meeting in progress ... with only 10 minutes left!

Have sermon will travel?

Those in "my time" will know a TV Show called Have Gun Will Travel.I don't remember much except for the first line of the theme song and a gunslinger with mustache. I do remember I watched it very often just like I watched Bonanza (this one I don't even remember the theme song. I just remember there are a lot of people.)
(A light bulb just lighted in my mind, I remember something.) I think I remember the conclusion of an episode of HGWT. The hero offered to help an old lady bury her son (no one was around because the son was a bad guy). She declined because it was the hero who killed her son. I distinctly remember she stuck the shovel a bit into the ground and jumped onto it and used her weight (which was not much) to bring the shovel deep into the ground before she dug the dirt out.
Anyway, the show (or rather the name of the show) is the inspiration of the title of this post.
In my new job, I have travelled twice and I will travel another time in the following week. All three times, I am scheduled to preached on the Sunday I am back. It may not be a coincidence. But far be it for me to spiritualize everything. If it happens a fourth time, then perhaps ...
I am going to Bangkok next week for four days to give trainings to my colleagues there. As usual, I will watch what I eat very carefully. My accommodation comes with breakfast. And I am told time and again the tom yam there is good. D'oh (to quote Jesse quoting Homer Simpson.)
One would think being along away from home, I'd have more time with God and hence can spend more time with the sermon. True, I do get to spend more time with God. I can do 100 sit ups every night. But I also get lazy. Time is spent watching TV (it was CSI-mania in Singapore. One after another) and playing games.
I am only preaching once a month. I have plenty of time. But most of the time, I would work on it up until Saturday.
I lost my voice after leading worship for the 2nd service 2 days ago.
I think I will keep my voice on 09 Sep 2007.
