I have been Loong the Learner since the early 90s when I first get into BBSing. I keep the moniker to remind myself that I am learning everyday.

Wardrobe Malfunction
I went to pick up the my house keys. Then I went out to get a taxi. No luck. I walked further. Same. I went back to the office to try to call one. Jane who was on duty gave me a number to call. No answer. Her attempt on another taxi company was met with an engaged tone.
I called my Fatt, my brother. No answer. I tried once more to think if there is a place nearby to get a new pair of pants. Nope. Didn't think so. Fatt called back. I told him my predicament. He said he had a meeting in Cheras at 1430 but he had time.
So, he sent me home to change. When I got back to the office, lunch time was almost over. I decided not to eat and just prepared for the training.
The training was wonderful. Truly interactive and productive. It was fun too. I am most glad that my colleagues were serious in learning up the system.
I am now in front of the idiot box (the one who watches it is not necessarily an idiot, mind you.) It's Monday night! It's TV-marathon with America's Got Talent, Burn Notice and Criminal Minds. Normally I would fall asleep halfway through Criminal Minds. I remember when we got 3 CSIs back to back on Monday nights. Those were the days!
p.s. The LG Cookie could prove to be an even bigger temptation to be than McDonald's. Each TV commercial I see gets my heart pumping faster. Phew. It's tough resisting the temptation to get one. iPhone is one thing with the price. LG Cookie? Hmm ...

I have a choice
so I could give more to the Myanmar cyclone victims
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
They don't get to choose when they get to eat or not.
I wanted to put off changing my bedsheet
since it's still quite clear and comfortable
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
They don't get to choose where they sleep.
I didn't bother to bury the hatchet (no, not on the chest of somebody)
because I don't think it matters
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
Their family / friends / neighbours are no more.
I thought of letting others do what needs to be done
thinking that if they like to do it, let them
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
They are left with themselves.
I thought of loving others just the same will do
since there will be another day
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
Their loved ones have left them.
I thought of loving God just the same
and that I will love Him more when the time comes
then I realize I have a choice, they don't.
They NEED God now.
I pray that we will love God and love people when we have a choice. Don't let calamity fall before we turn to him. Don't let tragedy strike before we pour out our love long held within our heart.
Please give all you can in the church on the coming Sunday (19 May 2008.) And keep praying ...

It's getting scary

From Big Mac to Chici Mac: The future of fast food
Last Friday Sarah White told us about the launch of the 754-calorie, four all-beef patty Mega Mac by MacDonald’s Japan. Mari Kanazawa reports today that MacDonald’s cannot hide behind its food stylists. The Japanese blogosphere is full of actual photographs of the sandwich, which appears somewhat smashed, gray, and greasy in real life.
In January 2002, years before the Mega Mac introduction, Takeshi Fukuda and his friends presciently speculated on what MacDonald’s Japan may have up its sleeves for the future. As they added beef patties they eventually ran out of mathematical prefixes and began to resort to Marx Brothers references. (Takeshi also reminds us that the regular hamburgers at McDonald’s Japan that they bought for this stunt only cost 60 yen at the time.)

Headache ... and what me nervous?
She got to try out the Sago Gula Melaka. She told me her Belacan Friend Rice didn't have enough belacan. My Chicken Minced Fried Rice had no taste. I think I can tell it apart from white rice blind folded but it made my sensitive tongue very unhappy.
I always think we eat for energy (and to continue living) AND to enjoy. Normally, when I don't get the 2nd part, I will go and buy something for my tongue. A chocolate bar perhaps. Highly sour candy perhaps.
Despite the food, we had a good chat especially on worship.
I seldom eat out. I normally buy my lunch and eat in. I want to avoid smoke and I feel safer near to a washroom.
I remembered the previous day when I was scheduled to lead worship. I was pacing back and forth when the announcements were made by Pastor Michael prior to the worship. I led the 1st service without much problem.t I was ok, I told myself. But my mind told me otherwise. After Pastor Michael handed me the mic, I stepped down almost immediately and told him I needed to go to the toilet and requested him to open the time for testomonies, etc. Then, in a bold act (which did not turn out to be foolish), I decided I could go throught it and I did.
It could be butterflies in the stomach. It could be irritable bowel syndrome. It could be psychological. It could be a spiritual attack / test. It could also be cancer. Or it could have something to do with my diet. I don't dare to take breakfast unless we are having it next block from the office. I don't think it's due to anxiety or nervousness. I can go up to address lots of people without any stage fright. I have beed doing that since my school days.
Well, I am not nervous. I cannot remember the last time I was. Perhaps it was the long hours from 10 p.m. 09 Jan 1994 to noon 10 Jan 1994 when I waited in UH (now UMMC) for Jesse to be delievered. I am seldom shocked. Car accidents, thunder, etc. don't startle me.
I remember when I was younger, I don't even dare to go to the kitchen to take a drink. When I got to know God better, I dare to walk to the kitchen in the dark to get water. (God bless me with a good night vision.) There are many stories to tell, including the one when I was this close to step on a pile of broken glass. My barefoot was perhaps touching them when I stopped. That saved it from getting hundreds of (painful) holes.
Due to this condition, I normally don't eat when I have to do something important, like a demo (in my previous jobs) or when I travel long distance. I have not been having breakfast on Sundays since many years ago. Fasting is good.
Let me repeat, I am not nervous.
