I have a tumour

I took Jesse to a checkup with his orthopedist. His elbow is recovering well. The cast will be removed in 1 month. Then we will have 6 weeks of physiotheraphy to remind the arm and wrist how to function.

I have a small lump on the top of my left foot. I asked the doctor to take a look. He examined it and confirmed it to be a ganglion. It's not cancerous.

This is a definition taken from the eMedicine Health website.
A ganglion cyst is a tumor or swelling on top of a joint or the covering of a tendon (tissue that connects muscle to bone). It looks like a sac of liquid (cyst). Inside the cyst is a thick, sticky, clear, colorless, jellylike material. Depending on the size, cysts may feel firm or spongy.
Interestingly enough, a ganglion cyst is also known as Bible cyst. And a treatment that is no longer advised is called the Bible therapy. That involves smashing the cyst with a book! Today, is is either left untouched, treated with aspiration (removing the fluid using a needle) or surgical removal.

So, I have a tumour but I'll be fine.

Da Vinci Code

This is taken from MalaysianKini.

Jesus is the rock of our salvation. If we build our house on this rock, it will not be shaken.

It is disheartening to see the closure of Sarawak Tribune over the offensive caricatures issue and it is even more disheartening to see last Friday's demonstration against Denmark. However, the only silver lining in the gloomy clouds is the fact that our Malaysian protestors are still able to maintain decorum, control their tempers and avoid any untoward incidents. Kudos to our Muslim friends.

If one could recall the book entitled Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, one would agree that the contents of the book is extremely damning to the entire Catholics faith. But do we see the Vatican coming up in arms against Dan Brown? No. In fact, riding on the popularity of Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown has been able to make his earlier books such as Angel & Demon, Digital Fortress and Total Deception instant million dollars bestsellers. Basking in fame, Dan Brown is certainly luckier than people like Salman Rushdie who had to flee for his life following the Ayatollah Khomeni's demand for his head for his book, Satanic Verses.

Personally, I believe if our faith is anchored upon the solid rock, the likes of Dan Brown and Salman Rushdie can ever shake it, let alone eliminate it. As a Christian, I do not condone the act of degrading other religions. However, all parties need to show certain degree of maturity and not further jeopardise the situation.

Those deplorable cartoons certainly portrayed Islam in a very bad light by linking the religion to terrorism and violence. However, we must remember that by reacting violently out of anger, the supposing falsehood of those cartoons has been affirmed.

Matt Cappotelli

Click on the picture to see the video clip. It may take some time to stream and it may stop time and again. Let it run. Once it's completed, run it again to hear what he said.

Matt Cappotelli is a the co-winner of Tough Enough III. TE is a competition run by the WWE (the World Wrestling Entertainment) to select potential superstars.

Matt Cappotelli is also the reigning OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) champion. OVW is another wrestling promotion under the same banner as WWE. It is a development territory to train up and coming superstars.

On the night of Feb 9, Matt made an emotional (and reportedly religious) announcement. He is diagnosed with brain tumour. He relinquished his championship belt stating he could no longer do it justice. He will undergo surgery and chemotherapy. But he didn't lose hope. He cited his relationship with Jesus Christ as his source of strength to go through this trial. Instead of seeking pity, he sought to help those those are suffering and in pain. He then said a prayer.

That's saying a lot in a country where public prayers are banned in school.

Matt then stayed on until midnight (from around 10 p.m.) to talk to each and everyone of his fans.

We pray that God will be him and his family.

Jesse wears a cast

I got a call from Jesse's school on Tuesday afternoon.

A boy shoved Jesse in school and the fall fractured Jesse's left elbow. This happened after school.

We took him to see doctor and took and x-ray on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday afternoon, we took him to see an ortopaedic specialist who identified a hairline undisplaced fracture. He promptly put on a full length cast for Jesse.

Jesse will wear the cast for 6 weeks and then do physiotherapy for another 6 weeks.

The cast is hard and hot. Jesse complains of itchiness.

All this trouble just because a boy thought it was funny to push someone else down.

Just cartoons

Qu called me and asked me about the cartoons. I didn't know what they were until I did a little digging.

You can find them in this blog, in all their glory.

This is the beginning of the post.
4000 terror attacks after 9/11, the world was still slumbering. But 12 innocent satirical drawings in a Danish newspaper, the kind of cartoons printed daily by the thousands in newspapers all over the world, have changed the geopolitical situation.
Tell me what you think.
