2,200,000 % Inflation Rate

Read this news article from the Associated Press.

What does a 2,200,000 % inflation rate mean? Let me pick up some points to share.

A loaf of bread there is 100 billion Zimbabwean Dollar (that is RM 17.39). This is in a country where unskilled workers earn ZWD 200 billion a month. In other words, for those who are fortunate to get work, they can get 2 loaves of bread a month.

80% are without jobs.

Bus fare could be higher than one month's salary, so people walk to work and sell vegetables in a vain attempt to make ends meet.

The sham of a goverment is printing currency notes of bigger denominations.

Wait till some smart and bright leaders use that as a benchmark to claim their country is doing alright. Before they do that, it will do them well to find out what caused the problem.
