Handling Conflicts Effectively

Christians move too slowly. There are many needs outside the church. However, the church tends to be inward looking. The church seems to be battling a lot of its own problems. If Christians do not rise up, how can they help those in need in the marketplace?

The Biblical Family Hierarchy
Wife is to be a helper / helpmate to the husband, who is the head of the household.

帮助=替他做；扶持=鼓励、支持
To help = to do for him. To support = to encourage.

God put the wife in the family to help the husband to be the leader God intends him to be. Children are given to us so we can help them grow up to be what God wants them to be – not what we want them to be or to realize our unrealized dreams.

Maturity

·         Does not depend on age.

·         Does not depend on the outward look.

·         Does not depend on achievements.

·         Does not depend on education.

Maturity is an attitude.

How do we measure maturity? We cannot compare maturity based on our own understanding. We need to turn to the Word of God in James. We will find the five marks of a mature person.

Pray for family

1.       Build a family according to God’s will (Eph 5:21-6:4)

a.       Fear God – put God in the first place

b.      Build a family altar

c.       Love one another and submit to one another

d.      孝顺父母、教养儿女Honour the parents, teach the children

2.       The Mission of the family (Deut  6:4-9)

a.       Pass the faith to the next generation (one that fears God )

b.      Bear testimony in family life

奉献 Giving

(Now this is something that is close to my heart.)

Statistics from US in 2008:

· Charity organizations received USD 307 billion in donation which is 2% of GDP

· 34% of that went to the church

· 13.3% went to education

Analysis:

· 78% gave

· 22 % did not

· Only 6% tithed

· Middle income families gave less, those who gave more are those who are rich and the poor
