Evangelism – Malaysian Style (Skyline SIB, KK)

Pastor Dr. Philip Lyn, 12/06/2010
Evangelism 101 in Skyline SIB – settings: personal, cell, corporate.
Based on the parables of the sowing of the seeds. (Mk 4)
Four ways they sow:
  1. Sow simply
  2. Sow faithfully
  3. Sow sacrificially
  4. Sow together

Sow Simply

A sower went out to sow … (Mark 4:3) Don’t complicate the gospel. A seed is a seed. And there are not many ways to sow the seed. Don’t underestimate the potential of the seed. Keep the gospel simple and just sow.
KISS, Keep It Simple, Saints.
We can count the seeds in an apple but we cannot count the number of apples in a seed.
1. “Gossip” the gospel (Acts 8:4, 11:19)
Act 8:4  Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word.
Act 11:19  Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
Share about our life experiences with God. People may patronize us. But they will remember. When they have a problem they will come to look for us.
2. Pray boldly for needs
When we do simple things, God will open a divine door. We pray by faith.  Sharing the gospel is not just the mechanics. Pray with passion. Pray whenever convenient.
Questions:
Will I shame God? God can look after himself. They don’t look down on your prayers. They will remember your love and compassion?
Will it turn them away from the gospel? Don’t worry about the consequences. Just share.

2. Sow faithfully

“All kinds of soils” Mark 4:4-8
Sow on both hard ground and soft ground. The Sower sowed on all kinds of ground. We don’t know a kind of ground the other. Just sow.

3. Sow sacrificially

3/4 seeds wasted (Mark 4:13-20)
The seeds that grow will bring forth harvest of 30, 60 and 100 times.
Sow your time.
If you want to know the value of a year,
ask a person who has just failed the university entrance exam.
If you want to know the value of a month,
ask a mother who has just borne a lack-month child.
If you want to know the value of a week,
ask a person who has had cancer at the last period.
If you want to know the value of a day,
ask an editor of a daily newspaper.
If you want to know thr value of an hour,
ask a person who has just been stuck in an elevator.
If you want to know the value of a minute,
ask a person who has just missed a bus.
If you want to know the value of a second,
ask a person who has a relative that has just died in a traffic accident.
If you want to know the value of a tenth of a second,
ask a person who has just won the second prize.
Time is invaluable. When it passed, it would never return.
So,
"Don't live as if you had a thousand to live, live as if tomorrow was a day at the end of world".
Taken from here.
Sow your tears. Keep the names and pray for them. Sometimes there is nothing we can do but to pray.
Sow your labour. Keep my heart at a personal revival, keep my heart with the love of God.

4. Sow Together

Pray the Lord to send labourers. (Jn 4:35-38)
When we reap, it’s probably has been sown 8 times by somebody else. If we really want to reap with joy, we must sow. Sowing together has exponential power.
In cell: Share your testimonies when New Believers comes. During eating time, pop the question.
Sunday celebration: Salvation altar call every Sunday. Get everybody to stand up, it’s easier to go out. Ask a visitor whether they want to receive Jesus / be prayed for / receive a blessings and that we can accompany them.
Harvest Events: “Would you like to receive Jesus?”
